CHALLENGE 1

Crash Test Dummies (Not the band)

Your challenge is to create a robot that can drive forward and stop before hitting an obstacle

  1. Your robot will have to drive forward a certain amount (5 m)

  2. There will be a random obstacle (a ‘wall’) that will be placed along the robot path

  3. The robot must stop before hitting the obstacle (it should detect the obstacle from 40 cm away)

  4. Extra step: The robot drives around the obstacle


 Challenge 2

Putting Green

Your challenge is to build a robot that can putt a golf ball automatically (Not using remote control)…here’s what you need to know:

  1. Your robot will push a golf ball towards a hole, there is a line that the robot cannot cross, this is known as the cutoff line

  2. User’s can not use controller to control your robot, you must program your robot beforehand

  3. How your robot pushes the ball is up to you

  4. Extra step: The ball will be placed behind your robot, it will have to turn around and retrieve the ball first.


Challenge 3

Stacking blocks

Your team must program the following:

1. Armbot will pick up a ball that is in front of it.

2. Armbot will grip the ball and rotate 180 degrees.

3. Armbot will place the ball down in front of it.

4. Armbot will return to the original position.

5. Extra Step: using the controller to stack three blocks on top of one another
