Challenge 1 - Garage Door

That’s right, a garage door opener.

HINT

Your challenge will be to construct a robot that acts as a garage door opener:

1. The garage door opens a mini door with the push of a button (large enough for a toy car to pass through)

2. The garage door closes only after the push of button

3. The garage door cannot close while a ‘car’ is under/in between the open doors

4. Extra Step: Using touch LEDs the garage door only opens after inputting a special button code (ex. red button, then blue button, then red button)

Challenge 2 - Distance meter

Your challenge will be to construct a robot that acts as a distance meter:

1. The program will detect the distance of an object

2. The program will represent the distance using different light colours via the touch led. ‘Colder’ colours (ex. Purple, blue) will be used for far distances, and warmer colours (ex. yellow, red) will be used for distances that are near.

3. Extra Step: your robot should play a different tone of sound for how far a distance is.

Challenge 3 - High jump

Also known as the catapult Challenge

Your robot must catapult a ping pong ball over a high bar:

1. The robot can use any way to launch a ping pong ball over a bar.

2. The robot does not have to move it can be stationary

3. The bar will be placed at 30 cm high

4. Extra Step: the ping pong ball lands in a container placed behind the bar.
