What is a minimalist poster?

A minimalist picture/poster is a graphic design that uses simple shapes and a handful of colours to convey a message to the viewer.

Look at this painting by Henri Matisse, it’s effectively a blue blob — a very simple shape, with only two colours.

Despite being very simple it conveys a message — one can see the human form, or a posing model. All done with simple shapes and colours.
